    Water supply pipeline

    • Function: Transport water from municipal or self provided sources to various indoor water points, such as faucets, water heaters, washing machines, etc.

    • Common materials:

    ◦ PPR pipe: currently the most widely used, made of random copolymer polypropylene, non-toxic and environmentally friendly, with good temperature resistance (can transport hot water below 70 ℃ for a long time), corrosion resistance, not easy to scale, and strong flexibility. It adopts hot melt connection and has a firm interface, suitable for household hot and cold water pipelines.

    ◦ Copper tube: Made of excellent material, with strong antibacterial properties, high pressure and high temperature resistance, and a long service life (up to 50 years or more), but with high cost, it is mostly used in high-end decoration or places with extremely high water quality requirements.

    ◦ Stainless steel pipe: high strength, corrosion resistance, good hygiene performance, not easy to breed bacteria, diverse connection methods (clamping, welding, etc.), suitable for cold and hot water systems in various buildings, especially in areas with poor water quality.

    • Characteristics: It needs to withstand a certain water pressure (generally 0.1-0.6MPa), requires good pipeline sealing, is not easy to leak, and the material must meet the hygiene standards for drinking water.

    Drainage pipe

    • Function: Collect indoor domestic sewage (such as bathroom sewage) and wastewater (such as kitchen wastewater and toiletries wastewater), and discharge them into outdoor sewage pipelines or septic tanks.

    • Common materials:

    ◦ PVC-U drainage pipe: Made of polyvinyl chloride as raw material, it has low cost, light weight, corrosion resistance, smooth inner wall and is not easy to block. It is suitable for drainage in bathrooms, kitchens, etc. The connection method is mostly socket adhesive or rubber ring sealing.

    ◦ PE drainage pipe: Good flexibility, strong impact resistance, excellent low-temperature resistance, not easily cracked due to temperature changes or slight vibrations, suitable for drainage scenarios with hidden or certain deformation requirements.

    ◦ Cast iron drainage pipes: divided into flexible cast iron pipes and rigid cast iron pipes, with high strength and good sound insulation effect, commonly used in high-rise building drainage or places with high sound insulation requirements. Currently, flexible cast iron pipes are more commonly used due to their convenient installation and good sealing performance.

    ◦ Characteristics: Mainly relying on gravity drainage, it is necessary to ensure a reasonable slope of the pipeline to avoid sedimentation, and at the same time, it needs to have a certain anti blocking ability. The interface needs to be sealed and leak proof.

    Installation precautions

    • The water supply pipeline needs to undergo pressure testing (generally stabilizing at 0.8MPa pressure for 30 minutes, with a pressure drop not exceeding 0.05MPa) to ensure no leakage.

    • The drainage pipeline needs to reserve a slope (such as the slope of PVC-U pipe is usually 2 ‰ -5 ‰), and set up water traps (to prevent odor backflow) and inspection ports (for easy dredging) at key positions.

    • Pipeline layout should be concealed as much as possible (such as buried underground or concealed within walls), while avoiding load-bearing structures and heat sources, to avoid affecting building safety or pipeline lifespan.

    The selection of indoor plumbing should be based on factors such as building type, usage scenario, and cost budget to ensure system safety, durability, and environmental protection.
